I just ate a nectarine
“Opey” was it’s name
It wore a little name tag
Without a taint of shame
It looked just like it’s brethren
And their name tags looked the same
$2.99 a yummy kilogram
And “Opey” is their name.

I hoped that I would never be
You made me see such things
I wished I’d never have to see
You made me think such thoughts
Of hate and pain and doubt and fear
You made me love to be with you
And hate to have you near
